Uganda Premier League
Bright Stars FC vs BUL FC

NJERU – Bright Stars endured their worst start to a Uganda Premier League season in the first round.

The Stars ended the opening round second from bottom with just 10 points from 15 matches.

This situation prompted a change in management at some stage as Paul Kiwanuka was appointed head coach at the expense of Muhammad Kiseka.

After a fine start at the helm that saw Kiwanuka pick four points from his first two games, the Stars went on to lose their next three games, compounding their misery.

On Friday, they embark of a road to recovery as they desperately eye a stay in the top flight.

However, they come up against arguably the best team of the first round in BUL FC.

BUL surprised the football fraternity as they consistently grinded out results in the opening half of the season.

At the end of it, Peter Onen’s side had accumulated 29 points, good enough to see them finish 3rd.

With a stable defence and a front line consisting of Robert Mukongotya and Musa Esenu, they are expected to continue from where they left off.

Whether they can sustain their early season showing remains to be seen but one thing for certain is that BUL will be no push overs and pose a serious threat to the revival of Bright Stars.

Match Facts

This will be the 14th meeting between the two sides in the Uganda Premier League.

In the first 13 meetings, Bright Stars have won six, Bul two with the other five all ending in draws.

Bright Stars have endured a fine recent run of form against BUL, unbeaten in all their last five fixtures (W3 D2).

The first meeting of the two sides this campaign ended in a 1-1 draw, a similar result from the reverse fixture last season.

Bright Stars have won only one of their 15 games so far this season (D7 L7).

At home, the Stars have lost four games already, drawing three and winning just once.

For BUL, they are unbeaten in their last six league games (W2 D4).

Away from home, BUL have lost just one of their opening 7 fixtures of the season (W3 D3).
