KAVUMBA – KCCA FC will continue to be without Allan Okello when they take on Bright Stars FC in the Uganda Premier League on Tuesday afternoon.
The wantaway forward has not been part of the team in the last couple of weeks as he tries to force a move away from the Kasasiros.
He missed the victory over Mbarara last week and inspite of the fact that the club insists he is ill, reliable sources say the 20-year old has refused to play and wants to be sold.
Mustafa Kizza has been named in the match-day squad despite also wanting to leave.
Kizza also missed the game against Mbarara and head coach Mike Mutebi insists it is because of licensing issues.
“We have some players who are likely not to feature, noted Mutebi ahead of the game.
“Allan Okello is out with malaria, Kizza is available but with licensing issues.
The same applies to Anaku, Ssenyonjo, Opio and Poloto.”
The situation regarding Kizza and Okello remains far from done and it main go on until the end of the current transfer window as neither player is willing to sign a contract extension. The duo will be out of contract at the back end of next season.
Even with the duo absent, KCCA FC will be expected to take all three points at the end of the game as they try to pile more pressure onto leaders Vipers SC.
Currently, the Kasasiros sit four points adrift of the Venoms who will also be in action on Tuesday away to Proline FC.
Speaking about the game proper, Mutebi noted that he expects a tough challenge from Bright Stars but he is confident his side will get the job done.
“We expect a tough match from our opponents and we have a squad of 19 cleared players who we believe can give us the result we need in Kavumba,” Mutebi added.
KCCA will also be without
Jurua Hassan, Sadam Juma and Jackson Nunda who are still out injured. Keziron Kizito and Simon Serunkuma are other players ruled out due to club suspension.
Bright Stars, on the other hand, will be hoping to build on the three points they earned in their opening second round fixture last week.
After going all of their last four first-round games minus victory, Paul Kiwanuka’s side edged BUL FC 1-0 last Friday and will be hoping for more of the same against the defending champions.
Sitting 15th with 13 points, the Stars know that they need to start accumulating points as soon as possible so as to escape the clutches of relegation.
This will be the 14th meeting between the two sides since September 2013.
In the previous 13 match-ups, KCCA FC have not lost a single game, winning 9 and drawing the other 4.
KCCA will also be confident going into the encounter after winning three of their past four fixtures away to Bright Stars whilst drawing the other.
The first meeting between the two sides this season ended in a 1-1 draw while the reverse fixture last campaign ended 0-0.
Bright Stars come into the game having won just two games all season (D7 L7).
At home, Kiwanuka’s side have also won just twice in their opening 9 games (D3 L4).
For KCCA, the enter the contest having won 9 of their previous 11 league games (D1 L1).
Away from home, however, Mutebi’s side have already lost three games this campaign (W4 D0).
