Organisers confirm changes in CECAFA venues

The Local Organising Committee of the upcoming CECAFA tournaments have confirmed changes in the venues for the upcoming competitions.

Uganda and several East African countries will take part in both the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and thw U17 Girls Championships.

The Senior Challenge Cup will take place between 7th and 19th December 2019.

For the U17 Girls Championship will happen between 9th and 18th of December 2019.

Contrary to earlier reports, the Senior Challenge Cup will take place at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo not the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

For thw U17 Girls Championship, it has been taken to Njeru instead of Lugogo.

Uganda will have teams in both tournaments. The two teams are currently in camp training for the respective competitions.

The Cranes took part in a double session on Wednesday.

Twenty two players took part in the morning session after four were released.

Goalkeeper Jack Komakech, Wakiso Giants midfielder Hassan Ssenyonjo, URA’s Ivan Sserubiri and league top scorer Steven Mukwala have all be released from the squad.

The 26 remaining players will resume training on Thursday morning at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

Uganda is in Group A of CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup 2019 and they open their account with a match against Burundi on Saturday.

The U17 Girls team is also currently in Njeru where they hold two training session per day.
