Mbarara City FC 2-0 Kyetume FC

Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara

Friday, 15-11-2019

Western side Mbarara City continued their resurgence under caretaker Brian Sseyondo with a 2-0 win over league debutants Kyetume on Friday at Kakyeka Stadium.

Mbarara who beat Onduparaka 2-1 on Tuesday had to fight until the latter stages of the game to secure all the three points. At minute 69, the game was still deadlocked at 0-0, but their persistence paid off.

Kyetume’s Denis Lubowa put the ball inside his own net before Ibrahim Orit finishing the task in added time.

It’s the first time this season the Ankole Lions are winning back to back games, and Friday’s win is just their fourth this term.

Like their hosts, Kyetume are operating under a caretaker. David Mutono took over the side after coach George Best Nsimbe parted ways with the side. But unlike his opposite number, Mutono started things on a bad note.

For Kyetume, it is their third defeat in a row following their embarrassing loss to both Onduparaka and fellow debutants Wakiso Giants. They’ve now conceded 12 goals while scoring just one in their last three games.

Mbarara ascends to the ninth position now on16 points displacing Kyetume who descend a place below on goal difference.
