WAKISSHA – Wakiso Giants FC returned to winning ways on Friday afternoon thanks to a 2-1 victory at home to Busoga United.

The Purple Sharkes had lost their last three games and were coming off a dreadful performance in a 1-0 loss to Vipers on Tuesday.

It was not an easy game either as Wakiso fell behind to an Abubakar Otwao goal on 24 minutes.

However, Viane Sekajugo restored purity at the stroke of halftime to ensure both side head into the break locked at one all.

With 18 minutes to play, substitute Karim Ndugwa scored the winner for Wakiso.

Ndugwa has 12 minutes prior, replaced the ineffective Geofrey Sserunkuma as Steven Bengo made his second substitution of the contest.

Earlier in the game, Wakiso Giants captain and custodian Yasin Mugabi had suffered a horrible injury after a collusion with Dan Ssewava and was stretchered off after an 8 minute delay. He was then replaced by Derrick Emukule.

Lawrance Bukenya of Wakiso was named man of the match.

This is Wakiso’s 5th win of the season having lost 7 and drawn the other one of their first 13 encounters.

Victory sees the Purple Sharks climb into 7th on the log with 12 points.

For Busoga, they remain 6th on the standings with 16 points and are ahead of Wakiso because of a better goal difference.

In their next engagements, Wakiso are away to Kyetume FC while Busoga hosts Maroons FC.
