Uganda Premier League

Tuesday, 01-10-2019
-Bul FC 2-0 Maroons FC
-Kyetume FC 0-1 Police FC
-Bright Stars FC 0-0 URA FC
-Mbarara City FC 2-1 Busoga United

Bul FC moved top of the Uganda Premier League table following a 2-0 victory at home to Maroons FC in one of the five games played on Tuesday.

Peter Onen’s side who have been performing well since the start of the season, scored in either half to ensure a fourth victory of the season.

Robert Mukongotya was the day’s hero as he found the back of the net twice. He scored his first on 18 minutes and then completed the brace with just a minute of normal time to play.

Bul have now beaten Express, Police, Wakiso Giants and Maroons, this season. Their other game was a 2-0 loss to rival Busoga United last month.

For Maroons FC, they suffered their second loss of the season and remain on 9 points. They had earlier lost to URA FC in their season opener.

In Luzira, Paul Nkata got off to a winning start as head coach of Mbarara City with the Ankole Lions defeating Busoga United 2-1 at the Prison grounds.
Forwards Brian Ahebwa and Paul Mucureezi scored for the home side while Ibrahim Mugulusi was on target for the visitors.

After early pressure, Mbarara broke the deadlock on 16 minutes through Ahebwa who nodded in Mucureezi’s perfect cross.

With halftime beckoning, Mucureezi doubled Mbarara’s advantage, finishing off neat play involving winger Ibrahim Orit.

Busoga reduced the deficit 8 minutes into the second half as substitute Mugulusi curled into the back of the net-from outside the area, after Mbarara had failed to deal with a routine corner.

Busoga went all out for a leveller but Mbarara stood firm to see out the result.

Mbarara now marches onto 8 points for the season having won twice and drawn as many of their first six games.

For Busoga, they are on six points after winning two and losing four of their opening six games.

At Wankuluku, URA FC continued their miserable run of form as they were held to a goalless draw by Bright Stars.

Going into the game on the back of two draws and a loss in their previous three games, Sam Simbwa’s side could not break down a spirited Bright Stars side.

The Tax Collectors who defeated Busoga United 3-0 on opening day now have five points from as many games.
For Bright Stars, they are still on the hunt for their first league victory of the season.

They have now drawn three and lost as many in their first six games of the campaign.

At Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Police FC registered their first victory of the season thanks to a 1-0 win away to Kyetume FC.

Ben Ocen scored the only goal of the game netting at the stroke of halftime.

The result sees Police move to two points having came into the game on negative one after they were docked threw points following failure to honour their opening game against Onduparaka Fc.

For Kyetume, they remain on four points for the season. They defeated SC Villa and drew with URA FC to gather that tally.
