Real Betis vs Eibar
Estadio Benito Villamarin, Seville
Friday, 04-10-2019 @10pm
Real Betis will be looking to bounce back to form after suffering a 5-1 drubbing at Villarreal last week. Although the defeat was a heavy one, Betis did have their chances in the game and the scoreline ultimately was probably a bit harsh.
Visitors Eibar arrive on the back of two straight wins in La Liga after beating Sevilla and Celta Vigo at home. Can they produce a similar performance on their travels though?
That’s definitely the big question mark when it comes to Eibar. From 19 away games last season, they won a mere 2. They’re winless away from home so far this campaign too and Real Betis will see this as a good opportunity to gain three points.
The hosts have won 7 of their 8 points so far this season at the Benito Villamarín Stadium with their last game there being a 3-1 victory against Levante, so they will be happy to be back at home. They’ve also beaten Eibar 3 of the last 4 times they have faced them on their own patch.
An incredible 14 of the last 15 Real Betis home league games have seen both teams score. 6 of their 7 league games this season have seen both teams score also.
Eibar are hardly prolific away from home but the stats do offer hope of them at least getting a goal. They managed two in the away defeat to Atletico Madrid who are extremely tough to score against at home and they’ve scored at least one in 10 of their last 16 La Liga away games.
Leganes vs Levante
Estadio Municipal de Bertaque, Leganes
Saturday, 05-10-2019 @2pm
La Liga’s bottom-of-the-table strugglers Leganes will host the side with the worst away record in La Liga this Saturday. La Liga’s early kick-off sees Levante travel to Leganes. Leganes will see this weekend’s game as an opportunity to get some much-needed points on the board.
Meanwhile, Levante will be hoping to put an end to their poor run of away form. Levante have had a decent start to the season. They are yet to lose a single home game, after playing 4. However, Levante have lost all 3 games they have played away from home thus far.
Levante will have no better opportunity to get their first away points of the season than this weekend’s game. They will face a Leganes side who are yet to win a single game all season. Leganes have managed to pick up just 2 points so far this season.
Neither of these sides have been prolific in front of goal this season. Leganes are La Liga’s lowest scorers. They have managed to score just 3 goals from their opening 7 games of the season.
Levante have similarly struggled in front of goal. They have scored less than 1.5 goals in 4 of their 7 games this season. They will not have an easy time in front of Leganes’ goal this Saturday.
Despite being at the bottom of the table, Leganes have not exactly been leaking goals. They have conceded more than once in a game in just 2 of their 7 games. They have not been involved in high-scoring affairs this season. They have had three 1-0 losses, and two 1-1 draws.
On top of their current form, this fixture has historically not produced a lot of goals. This game has been played 4 times in the last 2 seasons. Leganes have scored just once in those 4 games. Meanwhile, Levante failed to score in 2 of those 4 games.
Both teams have not scored in this game in any of their last 8 meetings. The last time both teams scored in this fixture was April 2002.
Real Madrid vs Granada
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Madris
Saturday, 05-10-2019 @5pm
This Saturday, the Santiago Bernabeu will host a meeting between La Liga’s top two teams at the moment. Surprise second-placed Granada will travel to take on Real Madrid in what should be an exciting encounter.
Newly-promoted Granada will be as surprised as everybody else to find themselves in second place at this point.
However, they have impressed on the pitch this season, even picking up a 2-0 win over Barcelona. Their opening 7 games put them among Spain’s big 3 at present. They currently sit just ahead of Atletico and Barcelona on the table.
This game will not be a walk in the park for either of these two sides. Granada have really impressed with their defensive solidity in their early games. They have kept a clean sheet in 4 of their opening 7 games. This gives them the best clean sheet record in La Liga at present.
Real have also been impressive defensively this season. They have conceded the same amount of goals as Granada have this season. Real have managed just 3 clean sheets from their opening 7 games. However, they have kept all 3 clean sheets in their last 3 La Liga games.
Both of these teams have also been in good form in front of goal this season. With 13 goals, Granada currently have La Liga’s 3rd best attack. Real have scored just 1 less than Granada.
Real have been kept scoreless just twice this season. Only Atletico Madrid and PSG have managed to keep a clean sheet vs Zinedine Zidane’s side. Granada have also been difficult to keep quiet this season. Only Sevilla have kept a clean sheet vs Granada.
Despite Real’s good defensive record in La Liga of late, we feel that there will be goal-scoring opportunities there for Granada to take. Real conceded 2 at home in the Champions League vs Club Brugge in midweek. Real have also scored in 9 of their last 10 home games.
Both of these teams have enough attacking quality to hurt the other team.
Valencia vs Deportivo Alavws
Estadio Mestalla, Valencia
Saturday, 05-10-2019 @7:30pm
Valencia are set to host Deportivo Alaves at the Mestalla for this Saturday’s La Liga clash. These two teams are separated by just 1 point in La Liga’s table at present. We anticipate this fixture to provide a closely contested match.
Alaves’ supporters haven’t exactly been treated to plenty of high-scoring fixtures this season. Alaves have been one of La Liga’s lowest-scoring sides. They have managed to score just 4 goals from their opening 7 games. This is just 1 more than the league’s lowest goal-scorers, last-placed Leganes.
To compensate for their lack of attacking quality, Alaves have had to batten down the hatches at the other end. Alaves have conceded just 7 goals this season. They have kept 3 clean sheets from their opening 7 games.
Either Alaves, or their opponents have been scoreless in 6 of Alaves’ 7 La Liga games. This statistic is indicative of Alaves’ style of play this season. They don’t create many clear-cut chances at all. However, they are very good at holding onto the lead when they get it.
They are a solid defensive side, and Valencia will not have an easy evening.
Alaves will not be going to the Mestalla to score a lot of goals. Alaves have averaged 7.3 shots per game in La Liga this season. This is the second-lowest amount of shots per game in La Liga.
Alaves have also kept the lowest percentage of possession in La Liga in their opening 7 games. They have averaged 43.7% of possession this season.
Alaves have picked up just one point away from home this season, from 3 away games. Meanwhile, Valencia are undefeated in all 4 of their home games this season, winning 1 and drawing 3.
Valencia have won their last 6 games vs Alaves in all competitions. They are also undefeated in 16 of their last 17 home matches.
Osasuna vs Villarreal
Estadio El Sadar, Irunea
Saturday, 05-10-2019 @10pm
Villarreal will travel to take on Osasuna for this Saturday’s late La Liga kick-off. These two teams are separated by just 3 points at this stage in the season. We feel that this Saturday’s game between these two sides will be closely contested.
This game promises to be an interesting tactical encounter. Following last weekend’s 5-1 win over Real Betis, Villarreal are by far the top-scorers in La Liga, with 18 goals. Conversely, Osasuna are currently one of the lower scoring teams in La Liga. Los Rojillos have only managed to score 5 goals from their opening 7 games.
Osasuna, however, have thrived at the other end of the pitch this season. They currently have the joint 3rd best defensive record in La Liga, having conceded just 6 goals. Only Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid have conceded less goals than Osasuna at this point in the season.
Osasuna have only conceded more than 1 goal in a game 2 times this season. They drew 2-2 with the Catalan giants, Barcelona, and they lost 2-0 at the Bernabeu. Osasuna managed to keep an impressive 3 clean sheets in their other 5 games. Osasuna have kept a clean sheet in 2 of their 3 home games.
We feel that, despite their goal-scoring record, Villarreal will find it difficult to break down Osasuna this Saturday.
Villarreal have managed to score more than 1 goal in just 1 of their 3 away games this season. This was when they traveled to face bottom-of-the-table Leganes, and beat them 3-0.
Villarreal have scored almost 3 times as many goals at home as they have away from home this season. We feel that this game is unlikely to deliver a lot of goals.
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Osasuna’s 7 La Liga games this season. We feel that this game is also likely to deliver under 2.5 goals.
Villarreal’s away form, in terms of results, hasn’t been outstanding this season. Both of Villarreal’s La Liga losses have come away from home. Osasuna, on the other hand, are undefeated at home this season. They have drawn all 3 of their home games thus far.
Mallorca vs Espanyol
Iberostar Estadi, Palma de Mallorca
Sunday, 06-10-2019 @1pm
Details to follow shortly
Celta Vigo vs Athletic Bilbao
Abanca-Balaidos, Vigo
Sunday, 06-10-2019 @3pm
We don’t expect this game to be the most exciting one of this weekend. Neither of these two sides have been involved in goal-fests this season. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Celta Vigo’s last 6 league games. Similarly, there have been under 2.5 goals scored in Athletic’s last 8 La Liga games.
Athletic Club have had the best defensive record in La Liga this season. They have conceded just 3 goals from their opening 7 games. They have kept a clean sheet in 4 of their opening 7 La Liga games. This means that Athletic Club haven’t conceded more than once in any game this season.
This doesn’t bode well for a Celta Vigo side who have struggled in front of goal this season. They have only scored 4 goals this season. This leaves them with a goal tally just 1 goal higher than bottom-of-the-table Leganes. They have only scored 1 goal in their last 4 La Liga games.
Athletic Club have been in inspired form this season. Last weekend was their first loss of the season. Meanwhile, Celta Vigo have failed to win more than just 1 game this season.
We feel that Athletic Club will bounce back from last week’s loss to secure all 3 points vs Celta Vigo. Given Celta Vigo’s poor goal-scoring record, as well as Athletic Club’s defensive record, we feel that Athletic Club have a good chance of winning this match to-nil.
Athletic are yet to win away from home this season. They have gotten 3 draws from their 3 away games. We feel that they will narrowly win this weekend’s game.
Athletic Club have also been relatively poor in front of goal this season. They have scored just 7 goals from their 7 league games. They have scored just 2 away goals this season.
Celta Vigo have been relatively good defensively, considering their league position. They are in 17th place, but they have the best defensive record in the bottom 6. They have conceded 9 goals from 7 games. Athletic Club won’t be scoring freely this Sunday.
Athletic have scored more than 1 goal in just 2 of their 7 games this season.
Real Valladolid vs Atletico Madrid
Estadio Municipal Jose Zorilla, Valladolid
Sunday, 06-10-2019 @5pm
Third-placed Atletico Madrid will travel to take on Real Valladolid in this Sunday’s La Liga action. The two teams above Atletico in the table, Real Madrid and Granada, play each other this Saturday. Atletico will know the result of their game by Sunday. With a draw in that game, Atletico will have the opportunity to go top of the table this Sunday.
Valladolid will try to stand in Atletico’s way of achieving their 5th win of the La Liga season. However, stopping an in-form Atletico Madrid side will be no easy task for Valladolid.
Atletico have lost just 1 of their 9 games in all competitions this season, vs Real Sociedad. They are undefeated in their last 5 games in all competitions. Meanwhile, Valladolid secured just their second win of the season last weekend, as they beat struggling Espanyol.
In the absence of Antoine Griezmann, who joined Barcelona in the summer, Atletico have struggled in front of goal. Diego Simeone’s side have, as a result, had to rely on their renowned defensive solidity more than ever.
Atletico’s defense has been in excellent form this season. They have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 games in all competitions. Atletico currently have the best clean sheet record in La Liga. They have only conceded a goal in 2 of their 7 La Liga games. Atletico also have the second-lowest amount of goals conceded in La Liga, with just 4.
Breaking down Atletico will be difficult for a Valladolid side who haven’t been scoring freely this season. Valladolid have scored 7 goals from 7 La Liga games. They have been kept scoreless twice this season, by Villareal and by Levante.
Atletico have fared well vs Valladolid in their recent encounters. Atletico have come out on top in their last 8 meetings. Atletico have also kept a clean sheet in 4 of their last 6 fixtures vs Valladolid.
We feel that Atletico are likely to win this Sunday’s game. We feel that an Atletico win to-nil has a good possibility of occurring this Sunday.
Valladolid kept their first clean sheet of the season last weekend vs Espanyol. This will give them confidence coming up against an Atletico side that have struggled in the final thrid. Atletico have scored more than one goal in just 4 of their 9 games in all competitions this season.
Real Sociedad vs Getafe
Reale Arena, San Sebastian
Sunday, 06-10-2019 @7:30pm
Real Sociedad will welcome Getafe to the Anoeta Stadium this Sunday for a La Liga fixture. Sociedad have enjoyed an impressive start to the season. They are currently sitting in 5th place, level on points with Barcelona and just 2 away from leaders Real Madrid.
While Sociedad are currently in 5th place, Getafe finished last season in 5th place. They have not enjoyed as successful a start to the season as they would’ve hoped for following last season’s success. They have picked up just 7 points from their opening 7 games. This leaves them 2 points above the relegation zone.
Getafe have worryingly managed to win just 1 of their opening 7 La Liga games. Sociedad on the other hand, have won 4 of their 7 La Liga games this season.
Sociedad have performed well versus La Liga’s struggling sides this season. Their only two losses this season have come versus Sevilla and Athletic Club. They have won all 3 games they have played versus teams who are currently in the bottom half of the table.
As well as that, Sociedad’s home form has also been excellent this season. They have won both of their home games so far this season. Meanwhile, Getafe are winless away from home, after playing 3 away games.
Sociedad’s impressive home form stretches back into last season. They have won their last 4 home games. Getafe have also been poor away from home since last season. They have lost all 8 of their last away fixtures.
As well as being undefeated, Sociedad are yet to concede a single goal at home this season. They have kept 3 clean sheets overall from their 7 La Liga games.
Sociedad scored at least 2 goals in their last 4 home matches. In contrast, Getafe have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 La Liga games.
Barcelona vs Sevilla
Estadio Camp Nou, Barcelona
Sunday, 06-10-2019 @10pm
Barcelona endured a relatively poor start to the La Liga season by their high standards. Fortunately for them, their poor start to the season hasn’t been punished too badly by their title rivals.
Barcelona are currently just two points away from league leaders, Real Madrid.
This weekend, Barcelona will have the opportunity to make their way up the table. 1st placed Real Madrid take on 2nd placed Granada on Saturday. With at least one team guaranteed to drop points, Barcelona will be determined to take all 3 points this Sunday.
Sevilla will attempt to stand in Barcelona’s way of moving up the table this weekend. These two teams are level on 13 points at present. This Sunday evening game is likely to deliver an exciting end to this weekend’s La Liga action.
Sevilla had a low-scoring start to the season. They appeared to be suffering in the absence of Yassin Ben-Yedder and Pablo Sarabia, who left the club last summer. They managed to score just 5 goals from their opening 5 La Liga games.
However, Sevilla’s goal-scoring fortunes have taken a turn in the past couple of weeks. Sevilla have scored 5 goals in their last 2 La Liga games. They have doubled their goal tally for their opening 7 games, in their last 2. This is encouraging for them ahead of their trip to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona haven’t been very solid defensively this season. They kept their first La Liga clean sheet of the season last weekend vs Getafe.
However, they have still conceded a total of 10 goals from their opening 7 games. This is the most of any of La Liga’s top 7 teams at present. They have conceded at least 3 more goals than the next worst defense in La Liga’s top 7.
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Barcelona’s last 4 home games in all competitions. This fixture has also delivered over 2.5 goals 10 of the last 11 times it has been played. We feel that this game is likely to deliver goals at both ends.
Sevilla have never enjoyed their trips to the Camp Nou. Barcelona are impressively 15 games unbeaten at home vs Sevilla. The last time Sevilla won at the Camp Nou was January 2010.
Barcelona have scored at least 2 goals vs Sevilla 11 of the last 12 times they’ve played Sevilla in all competitions.
