The Uganda U20 national team, the Hippos continued their preparations for the upcoming CECAFA championships with a resounding 7-0 victory over Busoga United on Sunday.
The game that was played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru saw Morley Byekwaso’s side dominate proceedings throughout.
Charles Lwanga and Najib Yiga scored for the Hippos in the first half of the game. Saddam Masereka banged a hattrick while Ivan Asaba and Said Mayanja grabbed the other two goals.
The team’s assistant coach Hamzah Lutalo lauded the boys’ performance and also noted that he is also seeing steady progress ahead of the CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup.
‘It was a nice exhibition from the boys, noted Lutalo.
“I am delighted that the boys are putting into action what we have been practicing.
“Scoring goals has been one of our challenges and step by step we are overcoming it therefore if we continue this way, we shall go place.”
The Hippos are in group A of the CECAFA U20 championships which will be held in Uganda. They will tussle it out with Sudan, Eritrea and Djibouti for a place in the knockout stages.
