COSAFA U17 Women’s Championships final: Uganda out to stun favourites South Africa

COSAFA U17 Women’s Championships – Final
South Africa vs Uganda

The Uganda Women’s U17 national team will on Sunday afternoon take on South Africa in the final of the 2019 COSAFA U17 Women’s Championship final.

Ayub Khalifa’s side have been scintillating throughout the tournament and will be hoping they can shock the favourites and win the title.

They started the tournament slowly, drawing 1-1 with Zambia but from then on wards, they have proved they are a force to reckon with.

They beat Mauritius 11-0, humiliated Comoros 20-0 before eliminating Botswana 12-0 in the last four.

Ayub Khalifa’s side have shown signs of improvement by the day and will hope to continue the trend on Sunday.

“We have prepared very well for the game, noted Khalifa after Saturday’s last training.

“We have been preparing the girls mentally because we are technically playing a home team.

“We come up against a very confident side but we have installed belief in the girls.

“We have corrected our mistakes and looked into their (South Africa) weaknesses so as to use them as an advantage to us.

“We have studied their key players and after the last training, i am confident we will get the job done and return to Uganda with the trophy.”

South Africa came into the tournament as favourites and have justified that tag so far.

They finished the group stages with a perfect 9 points from threw games.

In the semis, they scrapped to a 2-1 victory over Zambia.

This will be the first meeting between South Africa and Uganda and it promises to he one hell of a cracker.
