The Uganda Women’s U17 national team produced one hell of a beating as they overcame Comoros on Tuesday afternoon.

Ayub Khalifa’s side who went into the game knowing they needed to score a lot of goals so as they do not face favourites South Africa in the next round, defeated the lowly South African nation 20-0 at the Anjalay Stadium.

Just like in the 11-0 win over Mauritius in the last game, once again it was captain Juliet Nalukenge who grabbed the headlines and was named Woman of the match.

The 17 year old who struck 6 last time out, went one better as she managed to find the net of seven different occasions on Tuesday.

She scored in the 10th, 19th, 26th 31st, 35th, 57th and 92nd minute to take her competition’s tally to 13.

Margret Kunihira, Shakira Nyinagahirwa and Fauzia Najjemba were also sharp in front of goal as they scored 5, 3 and 4 goals respectively.

The other was bundled home by Lillian Ankunda.

The result means Uganda finishes top of group A with 7 points having draw 1-1 with Zambia in their opening game.

Speaking after the game, Uganda’s head coach Ayub Khalifa could not hide his delight for the team scoring as many as they did.

“I am very happy because we got the win, said Khalifa.

“I wanted to see my side score many goals so as to top the group and we have scored 20.

“I am very impressed with what my girls have done because i asked for many goals and that is what they have given me.”

The Cranes end the group stages with 7 points and 32 goals scored whilst conceding just once.

They will next face either Botswana or Madagascar who are in line to finish second in group A.
