The Uganda Women’s U17 national team will be hoping to seal top spot in group A at the 2019 COSAFA Women’s U17 Championships.

After two games and four points accumulated, Ayub Khalifa’s side are currently 2nd in the group behind leaders Zambia who have scored more goals.

With South Africa cruising in Group A and most likely to seal top spot, no one wants to face them in the semis.

The only way to avoid them is by toping Group A and that will be the main focus for Uganda when they take of Comoros on Tuesday afternoon.

“We go into the game against Comoros with a lot of confidence after a commanding victory against Mauritius but our target is to score as many goals as we can because our target is to lead the group, noted Uganda’s head coach Ayub Kalifa.

“Zambia scored 15 goals against Comoros, meaning we have to score more than that to lead the group.

“But that does not mean we shall play under pressure. I want the players to enjoy themselves and play according to instructions.”

Uganda will look to captain Juliet Nalukenge for inspiration after she scored 6 in the 11-0 victory over Mauritius on Saturday.

It should be a straight forward win for Khalifa’s side but it all depends on how many goals they score and will also be keeping close tabs on the result between Zambia and Mauritius in the other group A game.
