COSAFA U17: Team Uganda off to Mauritius

COSAFA Women U17 Championships
Port Luis, Mauritius
20th-29th September

The Uganda national women’s U17 team departed for Mauritius on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the 2019 COSAFA Women U17 championships.

Uganda was invited to take part as guests in the competition that will run from September 20th to 29th in Port Luis.

A contingent of 20 players and 9 officials left Entebbe International Airport aboard the Fly Emirates.

During the departure, head coach Ayub Khalifa promised to return with a silverware.

“It will be a tough tournament but we have got enough time to prepare the girls, noted Khalifa.

“We are coming back with a victory because our struggle is to be number one.”

At the championships, Uganda is in Group A alongside the hosts Mauritius, Zambia, and Comoros.

Their first match will be against Zambia on Friday 20th September at Francois Xavier Stadium in Port Luis before playing Mauritius and Comoros on 22nd and 24th September respectively.
