NAMBOOLE – Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC will tussle it out with Wakiso Giants FC for the 5th place in the Pilsner Super 8 2019.
This was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon as the Tax Collectors defeated Proline FC 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
January signing Cromwel Rwothomio handed URA FC the lead before Hamis Diego Kizza equalized for the visitors.
In the game proper, URA showed their intentions to take control of the game as they exerted early pressure.
They were rewarded inside 10 minutes when Rwothomio received a teasing cross from winger Brian Majjwega before heading into the back of the net, while unmarked in the area.
With the game looking to have settled down as both sides traded possession, Proline equalized.
Kizza who was signed as a free agent last month, volleyed in an Ajuna cross on 27 minutes to bring the scores at 1-1.
Proline should have had a penalty in the second half but protest were waved away as Kizza was brought down in the area but that was as close as any one came to winning the contest.
In the end, none of the teams could come up with another goal as the two sides went into penalties.
In the shoot-out, URA converted all their spots as eventual man of the match-Saidi Kyeyune, Brian Majwega, Hudu Mulikyi, Dickens Kilama and Mikidad Ssenyonga all found the back of the net.
For Proline, Joseph Madela, James Bagesa, Ibrahim Bonyo and Hakim Kiwanuka all scored but Nordin Bunjo missed his kick to hand the Tax Collectors victory.
The result means URA will now take on Wakiso Giants, who defeated Tooro United 2-1 on Wednesday, to determine who finishes 5th and 6th.
On the other hand, Proline will face Wasswa Bbosa’s side in a battle for 7th.
The next Pilsner Super 8 game will see KCCA FC host Onduparaka to determine who marches onto the final, to face Vipers SC.
Vipers defeated Mbarara City on penalties, last week.
