WAKISO – URA FC edged Wakiso Giants on penalties to clinch 5th spot in the Pilsner Super 8 2019.
The Tax Collectors had to endure the agony of spot kicks, eventually winning the contest 4-2 after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.
Saidi Kyeyune and captain Shafik Kagimu put URA 2-0 up by the break but Wakiso fought back through Karim Ndugwa and Viane Sekajugo to ensure a 2-2 draw in normal time.
As early as the second minute, URA took the lead through Kyeyune who slotted home off Kagimu’s assist.
Wakiso had a chance to level matters but Geoffrey Sserunkuma who scored a penalty against Tooro United last week, missed from 12 yards after Sekajugo was brought down in the area.
With halftime beckoning, Kagimu doubled the visitors lead via a well taken free-kick.
Just after the break, Ndugwa pulled one back for the Purple Sharks, pouncing on Alionzi Nafian’s blunder.
In the dying minutes of the contest, debutant Sekajugo equalized to sent the game into sudden-death.
In the shoot-out, Hakim Ssenkumba and Hassan Wasswa converted for the hosts but Daff Lubobi and Sekajugo missed.
For URA FC, only Kagimu missed as Kyeyune, Patrick Mbowa, Brian Majwega and Anwar Ntege all scored to ensure a 4-2 victory for the Tax Collectors.
