AFCON 2019
Algeria vs Guinea
30 June Air Defence Stadium, Cairo
Sunday, 07-07-2019 @10pm

Algeria will be taking on Guinea in the last 16 Africa Cup encounter at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Sunday evening.

The knockout stage has so far produced surprises as hosts Egypt were eliminated by South Africa and Benin shocked Morocco.

The Algerians who had a perfect record in the group stages head into this knowing that any slip ups against Guinea will end their tournament adventure.

They won all three group games, scoring six goals without conceding and were able to outclass Tanzania 3-0 by resting 9 of their starters.

Guinea progressed to this round as one of the best four third placed teams, they beat Burundi 2-0 in their final group B contest and finished third with 4 points.

The Elephants come into this contest without their star man and Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita who is ruled out of the tournament through injury.

They will have their hopes in the likes of Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano, Dijon’s Sory Kaba and Auxerre striker Mohamed Yattara whose brace against Burundi secured a place for Paul Put’s side to this round.

Manchester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, Ismael Bennacer and Galatasaray playmaker Sofiane Feghouli are to headline the desert foxes attack.

History is on Guinea’s side having won five of the 12 encounters between the two sides. Algeria have won with the other three ending in stalemates.
