FUBA National Basketball League 2019

City Oilers vs Betway Power

MTN Arena, Lugogo

Wednesday, 31-07-2019 @8:30pm

LUGOGO – Betway Power and City Oilers will renew their rivalry at the MTN Arena in one of the two FUBA National Basketball League games to be played on Wednesday evening.

Power and Oilers have arguably been the best sides in the country for the last few years and contests between are always eagerly awaited.

Oilers, six-time defending champions, enter Wednesday’s game as favourites, that is if form is put into consideration.

Mandy Juruni’s side are one of only two teams yet to test defeat in the second round winning all of their four fixtures.

They have defeated Our Saviour 110-53, Ndejje Angels 90-56, Falcons 102-52 and KIU Titans 67-52. However, none of those side possess as much a threat as Power.

For Power, they are currently trying to regain their form and will be hoping to make it two victories in as many games.

Boniface Okello’s side defeated KCCA Men 84-58 in their last game but the victory was their first in three games having lost to both Warriors and JKL Dolphins prior.

In the second round, they have already lost two games in 8 fixtures and if they can somehow grind out a victory over Oilers on Wednesday, they will feel like they have gone back to their best.

When the two sides met in the first round, Oilers defeated Power 69-66, something that Oilers captain-Jimmy Enabu believes puts them in a better position going into Wednesday’s game.

“Our first round win puts us in a good position,” Enabu told the-SportsNation.

“It means that we did something right to win the first game. Hopefully we can do it again.”

The two sides also contested the FUBA NBL final last season with Oilers winning the best of 7 series 4-1 to retain their title.

The other game to be played on Wednesday will see Muk Sparks take on KCCA Leopards in the Women’s division.

MUK have so far been the worst side in the division this season. They lost all their first round games and have managed only a single victory in the second (round).

The victory came in a 71-54 win over YMCA Lady Hamstars, the only side yet to taste victory in the second round.

For KCCA Leopards, they are one of the sides expected to challenge JKL Lady Dolphins for this year’s crown.

They are yet to lose a game in the second round and will be highly expected to win the contest on Wednesday.

KCCA Leopards are the only unbeaten team in the Women’s division in the second round.

When the two sides met in the first round, KCCA won 93-50.
