AFCON 2019

Ivory Coast vs Algeria

New Suez Stadium, Suez

Thursday, 11-07-2019 @7pm

Inform Algeria will be hoping to reach the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals for the second time in 19 tournaments when they take on Ivory Coast at the New Suez Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Algerians marched into the quarterfinals in a convincing fashion after humbling Guinea 3-0 in the round of 16 encounter.

The Ivorians have not been convincing and were hardly the better side in the narrow 1-0 last 16 win over fellow West Africans Mali.

Djamel Belmadi’s side are the only side left in the competition with a 100 percent record, having won all four of their matches on their journey to the quarterfinals.

Both sides have previously faced off eleven times, but the Algerians have not registered a win against Ivory Coast in their last six encounters.

The Elephants won the last meeting 3-1 and neither side has kept a clean sheet against each other in their last three contests.

The 1990 continental champions have no injuries or suspensions heading in this fixture and are likely to use the same line up that defeated Guinea.

Ibrahim Kamara’s side will again be without Tottenham Hotspurs right back Serge Aurier through injury and his void will be filled by Mamadou Bagayoko.

Riyad Mahrez, Youcef Belaili and Adam Ounas are again expected to impress for the desert foxes whereas Wilfried Zaha, Nicolas Pepe, Serey Die and Max Gradel are expected to inspire the Ivorians to dreamland.
