NAMBOOLE – After a frustrating season, SC Villa saved the best for last.
The 16 time record league champions put six goals past a hapless Nyamityobora side in one of the 8 StarTimes Uganda Premier League games played on Saturday, May 4th.
This was Villa’s biggest win of the season and the most convincing of all of them.
Three goals were scored in either half as the fans celebrated wildly, forgetting the agony they have endured throughout 2018/18, for once.
Ronald Magwali opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute to put Villa on their way.
Pius Wangi added the second on the half hour mark to hype the Villa faithful hopes.
Four minutes to halftime, veteran play-maker, Mike Sserumaga added a third to ensure the Jogoos go into the break holding a comfortable 3-0 lead.
A minute past the hour mark, Sserumaga who has spent most of the season coming off the bench, struck again for his side’s 4th.
Six minutes later, former Vipers winger Joseph Ssemuju joined in on the scoring party with Villa’s 5th.
By now, Nyamityobora were fearing for the worst and their fears turned into reality as the home side struck again with 15 minutes to play.
It was former Police FC midfielder Albert Mugisa who popped up with the good, scoring to put Villa 6-0 up.
6-0 is how it ended to hand Nyamityobora their heaviest defeat of the season.
It was the second time this season that the Abanyakare have conceded six after doing like wise earlier in the season away to KCCA FC (6-1).
The victory for Villa, was overseen by Simon Mugerwa who was taking charge of the Jogoos following Douglas Bamweyana’s departure on Wednesday.
Mugerwa was quick to applaud the players and fans after the game.
“This was a good performance and credit goes to the players and the fans who cheered the team. The fans stood with us even in the most challenging times. Said Mugerwa after the game.
Against Nyamityobora, the players mastered the instructions and tactics given to them.
Two goal hero, Mike Sserumaga was named man of the match for his performance on the day.
This was SC Villa’s 8th victory of the season, seeing them finish 12th on the log with 34 points.
For Nyamityobora, the remained second from bottom with only 17 points gathered throughout the season.
