FUFA Big League 2018/19

Proline FC 1-1 Kansai Plascon FC

StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo

Thursday, 02-05-2019

LUGOGO – Automatic promotion from the FUFA Big League-Rwenzori Group to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League Group will go down the wire.

This comes about after Proline failed to seal top spot in the group, on Thursday, after drawing 1-1 at home to Kansai Plascon.

Proline who knew a victory would see them bounce back to the top flight on Thursday, took an early lead thanks to Ivan Bogere. Bogere who has been one of the stand-out performers in the Big League this season, was scoring his 14th goal of the campaign.

However, Kansai who are also in the mix for the direct promotion spot, leveled matters via the spot-kick with Sula Bagala converting neatly past Proline goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

The penalty was awarded by referee Ali Sabilla following a foul by captain Musitafa Mujjuzi in the penalty area.

At the end of the day, neither side could find a winner, meaning they both had to settle for just a single point.

The draw means that Proline remain top of the Rwenzori group with 39 points from 19 games. Kansai are closely behind them on 38 points, one point above Dove FC who defeated Kiboga Young 1-0 on the same day.

In their last games, Proline will visit Kabale Sharp at the Kabale Municipal Stadium next week while Kansai Plascon host Masindi based Dove at the Bishop S.S playground in Mukono.

Meanwhile in the Elgon Group, Wakiso Giants sealed promotion to the top tier, at the first time of asking after overcoming Entebbe FC 2-1 in the game played at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.

Wakiso Giants sealed promotion to the top tier following a 2-1 victory over Entbbe FC on Thursday.

Norman Ogik and Ivan Kiweewa scored for Wakiso Giants, either side of a John Kisakye equalizer for the visitors.

The win took Wakiso to 40 points for the season, five ahead of second placed Kyetume, with only one game to play in the season.

In their coronation game, Wakiso will be away to Dove All Stars at the Green Light stadium in Arua.

For Entebbe, they confirmed their relegation to the Regional League as they remained second from bottom with only 16 points accumulated from 19 games.

In the other Elgon Group matches, Kataka overcame Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos 1-0 at Kakindu Stadium. Tiff Kahandi headed home Peter Lusimbula’s teasing corner for the decisive goal.

UPDF out-smarted visiting debutants Light S.S 4-1 at Bombo military stadium.

Jackson Mayanja’s Kyetume smiled to a 5-1 victory over Nebbi Central at the Nakisunga Ssaza playground.

Bukedea Town Council won 1-0 against Arua based Doves All Stars at the Emokori playground in Bukedea. Michael Siwu scored the priceless goal for Bukedea Town Council in the 46th minute.
