MENGO – The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Referees Standing Committee has released a list of officials that will be in charge of the 2019 Uganda Cup final.
Bright Stars and Proline will contest the final that will be played on Saturday, 25th May, at the Masaka Recreation Grounds.
FIFA referee Ali Sabila who was in charge of Kyetume’s 4-1 victory over Kansai Plascon this past weekend, has been chosen to be the center referee for the final.
Sabila will be assisted by Mark Ssonko and Issa Masembe as the first and second assistants respectively.
William Wilberforce Oloya is the fourth official.
On the other hand, there will be a press conference for the two finalists on Wednesday, 22nd May at FUFA House in Mengo where their coaches will address the media ahead of the game on Saturday.
How the two teams reached the final
Bright Stars
Fred Kajoba’s side defeated Kazo Excel 4-0 in the Round of 64 stage, they went on to eliminate Bumate on penalties in the round of 32. In the last 16, they defeated URA 2-1 away from home before sealing a semifinal spot off a 1-0 win against Nebii Central.
In the semis, they required penalties to dispatch Express after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
Proline
Proline eliminated Light SS, Nyamityobora, Onduparaka, Vipers and Kyetume to reach the finals. In the Vipers game, they required extra time while penalties separated them from Kyetume.
