KAMPALA – The COSAFA bound Uganda Cranes team have on Friday morning departed for the Western Region where they will play their next tour game.
The Abdallah Mubiru side, who drew 1-1 in a build-up game against the senior Cranes team on Thursday afternoon, will take on Western Region at the Bushenyi Main Ground on Saturday.
After Friday’s build-up game, Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre could not hide his happiness about the way things are moving for the COSAFA team and his side too.
“I am happy for both teams, said the Frenchman.
“They have all had a wonderful display for the day.
“Today’s game showed that Uganda has a lot of football talent which reflects a bright future.
“We now have a total of thirty-five players in camp and easy for us to choose from.
Uganda is currently having two teams preparing for different tournaments.
The one under Abdallah Mubiru is gearing up for the Upcoming COSAFA Cup in South Africa where they will feature as guests.
For the senior team, they are beefing up preps for the 32nd AFCON finals that will be played in Egypt next month.
The AFCON side is currently residing at the Kabira Country Club from where they will depart for United Arab Emirates where they will camp for two weeks.
From there, they are expected to head to Abidjan, Ivory Coast where they are expected to play two friendly games before making their final stop in Egypt.
Unlike the COSAFA team that will start at the quarter final stage in that particular competition, Desabre’s side will have group stages to negotiate at the AFCON finals.
They were drawn in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Zimbabwe.
