2019 Suncorp Super Netball-Regular Season

Collingwood Magpies 57-43 Sunshine Coast Lightning

Melbourne Arena, Melbourne

The 2019 Suncorp Super Netball regular season got underway this past weekend with Sunshine Coast Lightning facing Collingwood Magpies in the second game.

Collingwood Magpies won the game played at the Melbourne Arena in which Uganda She Cranes captain and goal shooter Peace Proscovia made her league debut, coming off the bench.

The Magpies came into the fixture full of confidence having won the Suncorp #TeamGirls Cup last month and got off to a strong start taking the opening quarter 15-10

Lightning kept chipping away and the final two minutes of the second quarter were fiercely contested with the Sunshine Coast going on to win the quarter but continued to trail the Magpies at the long break, 23-27.

Teams remained unchanged at the start of the third quarter but Peace Proscovia was brought on at goal shooter late in the period to make her official debut for the club. Magpies, however, edged the quarter 12-10 to stretch their lead to six goals, 39-33.

Sunshine Coast were overwhelmed by Magpies’ swift moving attack in the fourth quarter but Proscovia shot a near-perfect 10-of-11.
