Nigeria vs Uganda

Referee: Blaise Yuven Ngwa (Cameroon)

MBAGALA – A spot at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup will be up for grabs when Uganda and Nigeria clash on Saturday at the Chamazi Stadium in Mbagala.

Nigeria currently tops Group A of the 2019 U17 AFCON that is going on in Tanzania, with six points from their first two games and only a draw will see them make it to the global showpiece later this year.

For Uganda, they target all three points to ensure reaching both the last four of the competition and the World Cup.

After losing 1-0 to Angola in their opening game, the Cubs bounced back in style, defeating hosts Tanzania 3-0 in the second game.

Coming up against Nigeria, the favorites in group A, it will not be an easy task but one surely not beyond the Cubs.

“We are aware of how good Nigeria are and their points tally so far tells the whole story, said Cubs head coach Fabin Kwesi ahead of the game.

“However, we know our qualities and are not scared of them. So will go into the game targeting all three points.

“If we play like we played against Tanzania, then we have a very good chance of making it to the next round and the World Cup.

Uganda welcome back left-back Ibrahim Juma who missed the win over Tanzania due to suspension. Juma was sent off in the loss against Angola.

Thomas Kakaire who was slotted into the starting XI last time out is expected to start in the middle once again.

The trio of Andrew Kawooya, Ivan Asaba and Najib Yiga who all scored in the 3-0 win over Tanzania will b key if Uganda are to take care of Nigeria.

The other Group A game will be between Tanzania and Angola.

Angola have three points while Tanzania are on zero so far.

The top two teams in each of the two groups in the tournament will qualify automatically for the U17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
