KAMPALA – It is always important to secure your best players especially when you join the elite.

This is exactly what Wakiso Giants have started doing as they edge closer to securing promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Currently topping the Elgon Group by six points with two games to play, Wakiso know that only a miracle of sorts can stop them from realizing their dream of securing promotion by the end of the season.

In a bid to having a strong side once they join the top tier, the Wakiso side have signed Hassan Wasswa Dazo to a new contract extension that will see him at the club till 2022.

The deal also gives him the option to extend his stay at the Wakiso based club for another year.

“I am delighted to be continuing my progression with this fantastic club,” said Dazo.

“They gave me a chance after a long injury layoff and I want to repay their faith in me for the next couple of years.

Ibrahim Kirya, the Wakiso head coach, was also happy with the agreement labeling Dazo as a very important pillar to the club.

I am very happy Dazo has signed a new contract, said Kirya.

“He is a great pillar in the team with leadership experience.

The former Express defender turn midfielder joined the Purple Sharks from KCCA after a long injury lay-off but since his arrival, he has missed only three games all season.

His contribution at the heart of defence has made Wakiso Giants the team with the meanest backline in the entire Fufa Big League as they near promotion to the top division. Kirya’s side have only let in 9 goals all season.

Wakiso Giants have the meanest defence in the Big League this season.

Wakiso take on Entebbe FC next in the Big League before ending their season away to Dove All Stars.
