Mbarara City vs Paidha Black Angels

Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara

Friday, 01-02-2019 @4:30pm

MBARARA – After a tremendous start to the season, Mbarara City have been brought down to earth recently.

Mbarara who at one point enjoyed a 10 game unbeaten run have now gone three minus victory and consequently slipped out of the title race.

In their last two encounters, they have lost both to Onduparaka and Kirinya JSS, leaving them 9 points off the pace.

The game against Paidha presents a glorious chance to return to winning ways and continue their wonderful season.

The Black Angels are the only team yet to win a League fixture away from home and have gathered just two points on the road.

In their last game, they lost 3-0 to Maroons, all but ending their dreams of surviving the drop this season.

With 12 spots separating them on the table, the gulf between the two sides is as clear as daylight and anything short of victory for the Ankole Lions will be a big shock.

Match Facts:

This will be only the second meeting between the two sides with Paidha only gaining promotion to the top tier last season.

In the first game, Mbarara defeated Paidha 2-0.

Against the newly promoted sides, Mbarara have already lost two of their four games (W2 D0).

Going into the game, Mbarara have lost only two of their last 12 League games (W5 D5).

At home, the Ankole Lions have lost only one games all season (W8 D2). That loss came against Onduparaka (2-1) in their last game at Kakyeka.

For Paidha, they go into the game having won only two games all season (D7 L12). The two victories came against Police (in October) and Nyamityobora (last month).

Away from home, the Blacks have lost all but two of their 10 games on the road. The only games they didn’t lose were in the draws away to Nyamityobora FC and Tooro United.
