Uganda to open U17 AFCON account against Angola

AFCON U17 2019
14th – 28th, April
Dar es Salam, Tanzania

The 2019 U17 AFCON tournament in Tanzania will kick-off on the 14th of April 2019.

This was confirmed on Monday evening as the fixtures for the 8 team tournament were released.

Uganda Cubs, who won the East African Regional qualifiers last year, will take on Angola on the opening day in their first Group A game fixture.

Before the Cubs first game, the tournament will start the with hosts Tanzania hosting West Africa giants Nigeria. Both of the opening day’s games will be played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salam.

The Group action will run from 14th to the 21st and all games will be played at the National and Chamazi stadiums. Group A will be contested in National Stadium while B at the Chamazi.

Uganda’s second Group game will be against Tanzania on the 17th while the 3rd pits them with Nigeria on the 20th.

After the Group stage, the two semi finals will be played on the 24th at a venue yet to be announced.

The losers final will take place on the 27th while the final happens a day later. Both games will be played at the National Stadium.

The Uganda Cubs are currently in Bujumbura where they will take on their Burundi counterparts in a friendly on Tuesday as they continue their preparations for the finals tournament.
