FORTPORTAL – Tooro United stunned Express FC 1-0 at the Buhinga Stadium in Fortportal on Tuesday afternoon.

Former Express winger Simon Sserunkuma scored the only goal of the game, converting from the spot two minutes to time.

On a day that Express un-wrapped three of their new signing, nothing seemed to be going their way, striker Eric Kambale was withdrawn in the 28th minute after sustaining an injury, with Tony Odur replacing him.

Three minutes after the half hour mark, Red Eagles’ defender Isaac Mutanga was booked to compound the visitors’ frustrating first half.

Despite pressure from the home side, the first half ended with the scorers dead-locked at 0-0.

Ten minutes into the second half, Tooro made their first substitution with David Ssali replacing Steven Omovia.

Express FC decided to hand Brian Umony his debut on 65 minutes, replacing another debutant Ivan Ocholit as Kefa Kisala went all out for a goal.

Despite the consistent attacks by Tooro, Wasswa Bbosa’s side could not penetrate the FC defence. They were forced to make another switch, taking off former FC Captain Willy Kavuma and replacing him with Baker Buyala on 73 minutes.

Tooro finally got their reward on 88 minutes when Sserunkuma converted a penalty to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

As Bbosa’s side saw out the game, they substituted Sserunkuma and sent on Timothy Musinguzi in an act of eating some time off the clock.

The result means that Tooro United jump 4 spots into 6th on the log with 23 points from their first 16 games of the season.

For Express, they drop into 8th on the table, having accumulated 21 points with 14 rounds to play.

The other game played on Tuesday:

-Police FC 1-4 Nyamityobora FC

Wednesday’s Fixtures:

-Mbarara City vs KCCA FC
-Bul FC vs Maroons FC
