NAMBOOOLE – Ten-man Vipers SC defeat SC villa 3-1 away from home in the StarTimes Uganda premier league game on Wednesday at Mandela National Stadium.

The hosts were the first to score through Habib kavuma in the 27th minute but their advantage was wiped out three minutes to the break as last season’s top Daniel Sserunkuma converted from close range to make it 1-1.

Sserukuma had earlier had a goal disallowed for offside when he made a perfect connection to Duncan Sseninde’s cross into the area.

A minute into the second half, Abraham Ndugwa who was making his first league start in a Venoms’ shirt scored a beauty off Noah Wafula’s cross. The former Masavu FC Captain connected with the ball via a scorpion-kick into the roof of the net to put Vipers 2-1 up.

Three minutes later, Moses Waiswa made it 3-1 to the visitors, converting from a free-kick just outside the area after Sseninde was brought down.

Captain Tadeo Lwanga fouled Albert Mugisa and the referee gave him a straight red card 20 minutes to the end of the game.

Despite the one man disadvantage, the Venoms held on to their fourth victory of the season and regain top spot in the standings.

Speaking to the press after the match Villa head coach Moses Basena said that his team was very sleepy especially in defence but he is going back to correct their mistakes.

“My defence was sleepy and the hosts got away on many times but am going to go correct the mistakes before our next match, said Basena.

For Vipers SC head coach Javier Martinez, he was excited for another win and how the boys are quickly learning his style of play.

“Am happy for I have not lost any game and the way my boys played today, they showed confidence but am going to go back and correct a the few errors we made, said Martinez

The loss means that Villa slip into second from bottom with two points from their first four games.
