-Onduparaka FC 0-2 KCCA FC @Green Light Stadium-Arua
-URA FC 1-0 Ndejje University @Mandela National Stadium-Namboole
KCCA FC registered their first victory over Onduparaka in Arua thanks to a 2-0 result on Friday evening.
Goals by Allan Okello and Captain Timothy Awany in either half were enough to propel KCCA go top of the league standings.
The visitors came into the game on the back of a disappointing goalless draw at home to Kirinya Jinja SS while the Caterpillars were on two wins in as many games and seating joint top of the league.
However, as early as the 6th minute, Okello broke the deadlock with a header off a Mustafa Kizza assist from a free kick after Denis Okot had brought down Patrick Kaddu down the left.
This was the second consecutive time that KCCA were taking a half time lead at the Green Light stadium after doing likewise in the 1-1 draw last season.
In the second half, KCCA started slowly as Onduparaka attacked but then went 2-0 up thanks to skipper Timothy Awany header off a corner.
Despite relentless pressure from the home side, they could not find even a consolation as KCCA registered their second victory of the season and first in Arua on the third time of asking.
The victory takes them top of the league with seven points in three games while Onduparaka slip to fourth with six points.
At Namboole, URA FC also registered their second victory of the season thanks to a slender 1-0 victory over Ndejje University.
The lone goal of the game was scored by Peter Lwasa at the start of the second half.
Earlier in the first half, URA would have taken the lead but twice, Mathew Odongo failed to connect Vitalis Tabu’s cross from the left.
Ndejje also had an opportunity to take the lead but Noel Nasasira could not beat James Alitho in the tax collector’s goal while one on one with the custodian.
11 minutes into the second half, URA broke the deadlock via a header by Peter Lwasa off right back Ronald Kigongo’s telling delivery from the right.
Samuel Matovu blasted high a free-kick from 25 yards in one of Ndejje University’s best chances to tie the game.
This was URA’s second win following a 2-0 victory against Paidha Black Angles on match day one, before they drew 0-0 with Express at Wankulukuku.
Ndejje University have now suffered a second 1-0 loss following their earlier defeat away to Vipers on match day one.
The victory pushes URA to 7 points, same as leaders KCCA.
