Uganda Premier League (UPL) new comers, Nyamityobora FC defeated Jinja based side, Kirinya JSS to reach the semifinals of the inaugural Pilsner-FUFA 8.
After a goalless first half in which both sides struggled to create goal scoring opportunities, it was substitute Ibrahim Mpangere who grabbed the headlines by scoring in the 88th minute to send the home fans into a frenzy.
Mpangere had moments earlier come on for injured forward Lamech Ebong and he struck home from inside the area after good work by former Lweza FC winger John Kisakye Weasley.
Like KCCA FC and Bul had done on Saturday, both teams used the game as a platform to try out their new acquisitions as they gear up for the forthcoming UPL season.
Nyamityobora assembled goalkeeper Franco Oringa, hard tackling midfielder Ivan Mbowa, John Kisakye and Ibrahim Mpengere among the new recruits.
Kirinya-Jinja S.S paraded new players of their own as Douglas Muganga, Isaac Isinde and midfielder Jeromy Kirya.
Nyamityobora, who are coached by former Uganda Cranes winger James Odoch, thus joins Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) as the other club to make the next grade.
KCCA FC defeated Bul 3-2 at the StarTimes Stadium on Saturday to book their last four slot.
