Africa Gold cup 2018

Kenya vs Uganda

RFUEA Ground, Nairobi-Kenya

Saturday, 07-07-2018

The Uganda men’s national Rugby team, the Rugby Cranes that will take on neighbors Kenya in the Gold Cup this Saturday has been named.

Michael Wokorach is back to the fold after months of absence due to a dispute with the coaching stuff.

Micheal had come out and openly said that he will not be playing for the team any time soon after falling out with the technical team.

One of the reasons fronted by some of the members closer to the team for his fall out is the team captaincy.

Wokorach was the assistant to Brian Odongo but when this year’s captains were named, he had been stripped of his role with Asuman Mugerwa named captain and Justin Kimono assistant.

It seems that the bad air between both camps has been blown away and the center will be at it again in Nairobi.

Having lost to Kenya in the first leg of the Elgon Cup, Uganda need a positive response to win the Elgon Cup.

But, more importantly, a good result will ensure the Cranes stay within touching distance of the top sides in the Rugby Africa Gold Cup.

A much weakened Cranes side was torn to pieces against Namibia in Windhoek and a result will be important across the border.

Uganda is second from bottom having played and lost one game in this year’s competition.

Philip Wokorach, Michael Wokorach, Ivan Magomu, Martial Chumkam, Ronald Musajjagulanyago and Marvin Odong have also returned to the team.
