The Uganda National Women’s team- Crested Cranes lost 8-1 to KJT U17 in a friendly match played at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo on Thursday afternoon.

The build up game was aimed at testing the players’ fitness as they prepare for the upcoming CECAFA Championships in Rwanda later this month.

The game was a major disappointment overall as the side conceded eight goals as compardd to the one they scored through Spencer Nakachwa in the second half.

Despite the loss, head coach Faridah Bulega picked positives from the game.

“We want to expose the team to different styles and experiences especially speed and tactics so I am not disappointed in the ladies, said Bulega.

“The girls managed to score against KJT even if they lost, am sure they will do better after the loss.

UCU Lady Cardinals duo of Aturo Ruth and Yudaya Nakayenze that joined in late also got a chance to train.

The crested cranes head to camp tomorrow and will be training at the same stadium in Lugogo ahead of the CECAFA tournament.

Crested Cranes’ opening match is against Kenya on 19th July as the Championship is to be played on a round robin format before the knock out stages.
