Oilers register maiden victory as NBL continues

-UCU Lady Canons 69-62 KCCA Leopards

In the Men’s division, defending Champions City Oilers ran out 76-51 winners over a below per UCU Canons side.

The two clubs where playing their second game in the league with no wins apiece.

Canons who lost their first game to Warriors without play after failing to present hepatitis B immunisation cards crawled behind in all 4 quarters.

Trailing 8-21 at the end of the first quarter and 20-39 at half time as well trailing in the last 2 quarters 35-57 and 51-76 respectively.

Oilers who also lost their first game to BetWay Power saw Landry Ndikumana score a game high 17 points plus 11 rebounds and laid up 3 assists while Jimmy Enabu scored 13.

It’s a good feeling to help your team win, said Ndikumana after the game.

“I believe we played good defence all night long and that was key to our victory tonight.

I believe our team is stronger due to the new additions I believe if we gel well, we will manage to go stronger.”

UCU Canon’s Chuma Fadhili was his side’s best performer hitting 12 points with 7 rebounds and producing 2 assists.

Landry raised his stats to 26 points, 7 assists and 23 rebounds for the season, topping current rebound charts with 2 more rebounds better than UPDF Tomahawks’ Okumu Bernard who has 21 rebounds.

UCU Canons will have no time to cry over lost points as they immediately take on Ndejje Angels at UCU court yard at 19:40.

In the ladies category, defending Champions UCU Lady Canons took on KCCA Leopards in a game that was squared at 25 all at half time.

The game that started slow with Lady Canons dominating the early stages of the game, however, the Leopards showed signs of getting back when they leveled the tie at 25-25 at half time.

Canons proved too strong as they went on to win the game 69-62 with Leopard’s Judith Nansobya scoring 16 points while Sarah Ageno scored 14 for the Lady Canons.
