Last year’s winners Jinja SS celerating after winning the tournament

The National Organising Committe for the Copa Coca-Coal Schools tournament has confirmed the list of 60 school that will take part in this year’s edition in Mbarara.

The surprise inclusion has been Kibuli SS who where initially eliminated in the group stages of the Kampala region qualifiers.

Kibuli tried as much as possible to qualify, reaching an extent of going to court but all in vain.

After several consultations, the record champions have been allowed to take part in circumstances that leave a lot of stones unturned.

They join four other schools that qualified through the Kampala region including Old Kampala, Lubiri SS, Kawempe Moslem and Kakungulu Memorial.

Last year’s winners Jinja SS also qualified through the Busoga region along with Agape, Iganga View and Jinja Progressive.

Jinja SS (in yellow) defeated St. Mary’s Kitende (in green) on penalties to win it last year.

For the losing finalist St. Mary’s Kitende, they used the Wakiso route to get to the final tournament.

They will be joined by Buddo, Standard High Zzana, St. Juliana and London College as the representatives from Wakiso.

The tournament starts this month in Mbarara City, which will be represented by the hosts Mbarara High School and St. Joseph’s Vocational School who are making their maiden appearance at the games.

St. Joseph’s Vocational School has been previously known as a power house in both Volleyball and Basket Ball but their success in the football arena has left observers puzzled and OBs celebrating.
