Kenya’s women football national team put one leg into the second round of the Women’s African cup of nations qualifiers thanks to a 1-0 win against the Crested Cranes in Machakos on Wednesday evening.
The sole goal of the game came after 54 minutes thanks to Lillian Adera’s curling free kick that proved too much for Cranes keeper Ruth Aturo.
Uganda who went with the intention of getting a positive result opted to play a defensive game which seemed to upset the Kenyans.
Uganda Crested Cranes who have never defeated their Kenyan counter parts seemed to be on the verge of an important point away from home only for Adera to happen.
While Uganda trail heading into the return leg, They will take pride in the score as the last two meeting with Kenya have all ended in 4-0 defeats during a friendly played at Moi Stadium in Kisumu two years ago and in the CECAFA Women Championship that was held at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru – Jinja.
