KCCA FC will have to play their CAF Champions’ League group stage home games for the year 2018 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
In a letter from CAF Deputy General Secretary Football and Development Anthony Baffoe addressed through Federations Of Uganda Football Associations to KCCA FC, he said
“With regards to the inspection visit conducted by CAF for the stadiums in Uganda for the next phase of the 2018 Champions League season.
“CAF decided to approve the Mandela Stadium as the stadium that will host all the matches of KCCA FC during their participation in the competition.
This comes after consistent complaints by several visiting clubs in both the Champions league and Confederations cup on the standard of the stadium and the fact that the crawd is so close to them(players) during the match.
KCCA FC is in group A of the CAF Champions league with Esperance (Tunisia), Al Ahly (Egypt) and Township Rollers (Botswana).
The Kasasiro Boys who are making their maiden bow in the competition under the current format will start the group stages campaign against Botswana champions Township Rollers on the 4th of next month.
Eleven days later, the two time Azam Uganda premier league defending champions will be hosting their first game and it will be the record CAF Champions league champions Al Ahly of Egypt coming to town.
After recieving the news, KCCA FC CEO Josephine Namukisa had this to say.
“Mandela National Stadium comes with a couple of positives and opportunities among these, the club has an opportunity to host a vast number of the football faithfuls in Uganda given that Namboole is big enough and also the players will acclimatize to the kind of environment they will experience when they travel away to play the other teams in the group, said Namukisa.
