Nsibambi added to Cranes fold as Miya, Lubega pull out

KCCA FC striker Derrick Nsibambi is one of the three players that have been included to the Cranes squad for the upcoming friendlies.

Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has confirmed that three new faces have been called up to the National team ahead of international fixtures due later this month.

Strikers Derrick Nsibambi, who plays for Ugandan two-time league defending champions KCCA FC and Buildcon FC’s  Fahad Bayo are two of the three called up.

The two strikers will replace professionals Farooq Miya and Edrisa Lubega.

The other is Vipers’ Taddeo Lwanga, who has also been added on to the initial list summoned a week ago bringing the total number of players in the squad to 24.

“Miya and Lubega will not be available for duty as they need to finalise with documentation of their work permits where they are playing from,” clarified FUFA media officer Ahmed Hussein, adding: “However the coach will continue monitoring the progress of these players at their respective clubs.”

Uganda Cranes will enter camp on Monday March19, for two friendlies to be played on March 24 and March 27.

The updated Cranes squad for the upcoming friendlies:

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango, Robert Odongkara & Salim Jamal.

Defenders: Denis Iguma,Nichols Wadada, Isaac Isinde, Bevis Mugambi, Murushid Juuko, Timothy Awanyi, Godfrey Walusimbi & Alex Kakuba.

Midfielders: Joseph Ochaya, Hassan Wasswa, Khalid Aucho, Geoffrey Kizito, Milton Karisa, Kizito Luwaga & Abraham Ndugwa, Tadeo Lwanga.

Forwards: Emma Okwi, Yunus Sentamu, Hood Kaweesa, Derrick Nsibambi, Fahad Bayo.

Farooq Miya has pulled out Cranes upcoming friendlies for later this month.
