KCCA FC first choice goalkeeper Charles Lukwago has been called up to replace St. George custodian Robert Odngokara for the Cranes upcoming friendlies.
Odongkara is believed to be carrying an injury he sustained in his club’s Champions league defeat last weekend and has not trained with the national team since Tuesday when training started.
Charles Lukwago has been one of the outstanding goalkeepers in the league this season in which he has conceded a league joint low eight goals and in the due process earned two man-of-the-match gongs.
Lukwago put on a brilliant display last Saturday in the presence of Cranes coach Sebastian Desabre, as he helped KCCA make history and became the first Ugandan club to make it to the group stages of the CAF champions league with a hard fought 1-0 win over St. George.
Lukwago joins two other goalies already training with the national team including captain Denis Onyango and El-Merrick’s Salim Jamaal.
After the arrival of Kizito Luwaga, Alex Kakuba and Godfrey Kizito yesterday takes the tally of players in camp currently to 23 with one more yet to arrive.
The remaining individual is star midfielder Khalid Aucho who plays for Indian side Bengal FC.
The Cranes will take on Sao Tome on Saturday before playing Malawi the following Tuesday.
Both games will be played at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole at 04:00pm
