KAMPALA — The year 2020 was a very unique year. A year where most people were locked in their homes. Business closed and people lost their jobs.

Schools too closed sending children to their homes where they had no plans at all to stay for such along time without being taught. It was an opportunity for parents to spend time with their children, learn who they were and also an opportunity to guide them into the type of people they wanted them to be.

New methods of interaction emerged and zoom was one of such methods. We as early risers also adopted to zoom as a method of communication with our members. We indeed had numerous online trainings and engagements.

As 2020 closed, individuals took stock of what they had been able to achieve and hope the early risers too also were able to do this. ERC Uganda was established to enable young people discover their potential by knowing who exactly they are and what they are capable of early in their lives. We have been able to touch many of you and we hope many of you have found our interaction useful. In this coming year, we want you to rise higher, understand yourself better, and understand the opportunities that the world presents in the rapidly changing environment. The Corona virus pandemic has changed things. Life, work, education will no longer be the same again.

As young people, you need to realize this and adapt to these changes that are taking place. You will require new skills especially Information Technology skills. You also need to learn more about social interaction. You must be able to relate to people at school, home and elsewhere.
This year we have not been able to have our annual bootcamp, However, we are planning at least one zoom meeting every month and one face to face interaction every holiday. We shall also have one visit to different organizations every holiday. As it is our culture to commit ourselves to what we want to achieve during the year, we shall ask all of you to write out what you what to attain this year in education, spiritually and socially. Make your parents your best friends and seek their guidance as write your targets.

We wish you a wonderful new year. We hope the Corona Virus challenge will be minimized with either a vaccine or some other solution. In the meantime please stay safe God bless you early risers.
