EL AAIUN – Mohamed Barkan Salah was on Monday, February 4 brought before the public prosecutor in occupied El Aaiun, Western Sahara Republic. A source told this publication that Barkan was simply questioned about his political beliefs, activities with Equipe Media, a local news agency and Sahrawi short film “3 stolen Cameras”.
Barkan denied charges of “inciting Sahrawis to confront the occupying forces during May 4th, 2013 demonstrations”.
Stressing that his arrest is simply a sort of harassment and intimidation to suppress peaceful political activism and freedom of expression.
This website has learnt that all he has done are documented and reported on violations of human rights committed by Moroccan state and tried to do informational pieces from inside.
By press time, Brakan is still detained in the Court of El Aaiun.
