President Yoweri Museveni flanked by a number of ministers has arrived to preside over the mass to celebrate the Bishops’ symposium in Africa.
The Special Service Command and the police have imposed tight security in around the church as more than 400 delegates gear up for SECAM.
A security official has already been involved in verbal exchange with a faithful who had been frustrated by the delays as the President arrived.
Meanwhile celebrating the 50 years of Consolidated evangelisation is being celebrated under the Theme: Church Family of God in Africa, celebrate your Jubilee! Proclaim Christ your saviour ”
SECAM was born of the wish of African Bishops attending the second Vatican Council (1962-1965), to establish a forum in which they could speak with one voice on matters pertaining to the church in Africa.
SECAM, as a symposium, is an organ for liaison, study and consultation aimed at faithful collaboration among the Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar through regional conferences.
It is comprised of all juridically, established Episcopal Conferences of the entire African continent and Madagascar, grouped under regional conferences.
