ARUA – The owner of Pacific Hotel in Arua Town where MP Bobi Wine and his colleagues were staying during the campaigns has said the legislator did not enter the facility with any gun and that neither did security operatives find them during their search.

In an exclusive interview, Mr Candia Luiji instead accused the security agencies of stealing his guests’ values and money amounting to Shs80m.

“These people did not get any gun here. They should be ashamed to tell lies to the public that they got guns. If they got the guns from somewhere, they should tell the public instead of blaming our hotel,” Mr Luiji said on Wednesday evening.

The revelation comes after police paraded before the media in Arua town what they claimed was ammunition and guns that were in the position of Bobi Wine, adding that Independent candidate had a pistol. The two will face the court-martial on Thursday.

However, Mr Luiji revealed that following the campaign violence on Monday from which Bobi Wine’s driver was shot dead, the security men broke 22 doors of rooms during their search while beating some of the staff at the hotel. He added two of the staff were arrested.

“I will file for damages of the property and also what the guests lost. My lawyer is drafting the suit against the security forces,” he added.

Following the shooting dead of the driver, Yasiin Kawuma, the hotel, which is located on Adumi road, was closed off by security agencies and declared a crime scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, the police paraded before the media two AK 47 guns, a pistol, 15 phones, six red T-shirts, 46 white tablets in a tin labelled extra strength as items recovered from Kyagulanyi’s room.

“While searching the rooms of Kyagulanyi at around Mid-day on Tuesday in Kyagulanyi’s, the security team found a small bag containing fifteen phones, a GPS reader, SMG riffles, six red T-shirts and other items. Kassiano Wadri was also arrested and found with a pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition,” West Nile region police spokesperson Josephine Angucia said.

. She said the police has preferred charges of treason on Kyagulanyi, malicious damage to the car belonging to the convoy of the President.

Lawmakers arrested in Arua but detained in Gulu include Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, aka, Bobi Wine (Kyadondo East), Mr Francis Zaake (Mityana Municipality), Mr Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality) and Paul Mwiru (Jinja Municipality).
