KAMPALA- A combined military force Friday morning raided telecom giant MTN Uganda’s data Centre.
The raid by Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and Police detectives occurred on Friday.
“An engineer of MTN who was keeping the keys was arrested and led to the data Centre in Mutundwe,” said an official on conditions of anonymity.
“The security personnel entered the MTN offices where they searched servers and copied all the files they wanted.”
When PML Daily contacted Mr Justina Ntabgoba-Kayemba, the senior Manager corporate Affairs at MTN Uganda, she remained tight-lipped although promised to communicate later.
Sources close revealed that security forces raided MTN for under-declaring telephone calls hence cheating on tax revenues.
President Yoweri Museveni in a statement on Wednesday said “Telephone companies have been under-declaring calls until recently when we acquired machines to see the telephone calls ourselves, big shame to the culprits”.
