Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat Oboi caused paralysis in Iganga town as he made a stop –over on his way to Soroti to launch his presidential campaigns.
Hundreds of people lined the street to catch a glimpse of the FDC president who is among the 11 candidates vying for the highest office in the land.
Addressing hundreds of enthusiastic supporters atop his vehicle, Amuriat pledged to address the plight of the ordinary citizens.
“We are running a common man’s campaign. As you can see I have no shoes and it shows how this government has deprived us of what belongs to us,” Amuriat said amid chants from his supporters.
Amuriat was set to launch the FDC manifesto in Soroti today but the activity was postponed to November 26 in Hoima.
In Iganga Town, Amuriat was joined by Iganga District Woman MP candidate Mariam Nantale and hundreds of FDC supporters.
Unlike in Jinja where Police fired teargas to disperse the crowd that had swarmed around Amuriat, the situation in Iganga was calm and police was seen pleading with Oboi and his supporters to match quickly through the town.
From Iganga, Oboi is expected to make stopovers in Namutumba, Mbale, Budaka enroute to Soroti where he will officially unveil his presidential bid.
