IBANDA – Former Predidential candidate Prof. Venancious Baryamureeba has vowed to champion great development initiatives for the constituency where he was born and raised and now seeks to represent in Parliament.
Prof. Baryamureeba, a stellar academician who has stepped a level down to run for parliament in the 2021 polls having had a shot at the presidency in the 2016 polls, wrote on Monday, July 20:
First and foremost, I was overwhelming by the positive responses I received in regard to my decision to contest for the Ibanda Municipality Seat on NRM ticket. I would like to thank all those who have given me words of encouragement, messages, ideas and strategies. I am back in Kampala to work on a few issues related to the campaign but I will be back in Ibanda by Thursday this week. When I return, I shall immediately open an office in each division so that the people can start submitting their views that are going to inform the manifesto. I will also share with you my views on the local radios by the end of this week. I would like to assure you that the Manifesto for Ibanda Municipality MP seat will be a people’s manifesto. In the same vein, we will involve religious institutions that have been involved in development issues including putting up schools, hospitals and creating economic opportunities for their followers to ensure sustainability and monitoring of the projects for the UGX 2 billion project funds I am providing to Ibanda Municipality that shall come from my salary and enrollments of 5 years in Parliament plus the matching funds I shall raise to the tune of at least UGX 50 billion. We shall also involve registered youth associations, registered women associations, representatives of education and health institutions based in Ibanda.
In the next 5 years, we need to cause a fundamental change in Ibanda Municipality and raise it to a status of a model municipality in the whole country. Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba.
