KAMPALA – The Presidential Advisor on Media Affairs, Mr Tamale Mirundi, has said Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is smarter than all his opposition rivals, the reason the ruling party has failed to bring him down.

Under his People Power movement, Bobi Wine, who is also the Kyadondo East MP, has been able to rally many people, especially youth, to oppose President Museveni’s rule. He has since announced that he will run for President come 2021.

And Mr Mirundi, who also served as the President’s press secretary, said Bobi Wine, has studied Uganda’s political landscape more than his rivals and his opponents have now run short of concepts on how to bring him down.

“If we are to compare our political situation to a football tournament, Bobi Wine is currently in the semifinals,” he said, pointing to the legislator’s move to appoint People Power coordinators across the country.

Bobi Wine’s move has also attracted mixed views from sections of the Opposition, with some members of the DP bloc criticizing the move.

“That boy has changed the political landscape of Uganda. All the drags that have been applied to stop him have failed,” Mr Mirundi said.

On those criticizing the Kyadondo East legislator’s decision of naming ‘cabinet’, the former Presidential Press Secretary argued that, “People remember the implementer not the initiator.”

He further stated that Bobi Wine’s move of naming his coordination team is a big step to his presidential bid.

Mr Mirundi urged Bobi Wine has to join forces with Maj Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation party if he is to take his agenda forward.

Mr Mirundi, who is regularly hosted on NBS TV, has always made controversial statements, some in support of opposition leaders yet he claims to be a sworn NRM supporter.

When Bobi Wine was remanded in connection with inciting violence over a protest against social media tax, Mr Mirundi said the legislator’s being in prison was safer for him because he could easily be gunned down and the country gets plunged into chaos. He added that the arrest of Bobi Wine only marketed him seeing as 34% of the voters want change. “Bobi Wine is a parasite. He is like HIV that paralyses your systems. The government needs a proper strategy against him”.
