PLE 2020: 81, 864 candidates get first grades as 74,878 fail PLE exams, results open to public

KAMPALA — The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has said it registered improved performance by pupils who sat for the 2020 primary leaving examinations.

While releasing the results State House Entebbe, UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo said up to 734,788 total number of students who sat for exams, 659,910 had passed.

A total 81,864 passed in First grade, 334,711 in second, 146,142 in third and 97,193 in fourth.

He said a whooping 74, 875 pupils failed the exams and have been advised to repeat.

Prof Mary Okwakol, UNEB’s chairperson said statistics on registration show that the number of registered candidates went up with a larger percentage than ever before.

“One of the findings is that in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso and some urban centres elsewhere, a number of head teachers admitted that they registered Primary Six pupils, mostly girls, to sit the
PLE. The reason given was that parents were worried about girls’ fast growth, and the uncertainties surrounding their going back to school soon,” she said.

How to send the message to know your PLE results

To access the service, he said a user should simply send an SMS from a mobile phone to code number 6600 on Airtel Uganda or MTN Uganda.

To construct a valid SMS, users should enter a prescribed keyword followed by their index number and send the SMS to 6600.

You can get the 2019 PLE Results for any candidate in a few simple steps.

In your message box, type PLE <space> INDEX NUMBER and send it to 6600.

For example, to check the results of the candidate with index number 654321/001, in your message box, type PLE 654321/001 AND SEND TO 6600.

You will receive an SMS at a cost of UGX 500 per candidate
