KAMPALA — The Ministry of Education has described as fake, a document in circulation of the alleged revised school calendar.

According to the trashed document, schools resume on September 21,2020 for finalists.

“#FakeNews: The document that shows a draft of the revised School Calendar and Time Table for candidate classes that is making rounds online is fake!!Kindly disregard it,” the ministry posted on it’s official social media platforms.

The fake document, further shows that candidates will sit their final year exams starting March.

However, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Executive Secretary Dan Odongo in a press statement dated September 10, revealed that they have no information on candidates reporting back to school.

According to Odongo, several media houses have called them to find out their readiness to conduct the national examinations and when they will be conducted.

“The response every time has been that UNEB will not make any comments on how ready it is to conduct the examinations until there is an official communication from either H.E The President or the Minister of Education and sports on the re-opening of schools. This doesn’t amount to a ‘clash’!” Part of the statement reads.

Odongo revealed that UNEB is in preparations to conduct the national examinations at an appropriate time in line with the Ministry of Education revised school calendar that will be published.

“UNEB is proceeding with its preparations to conduct the national examinations at an appropriate time, and in accordance with a revised school calendar which will be published by the Ministry of Education and sports when schools re-open.”
