Gov’t changes ‘O’ level set books for literature in English 2020 – 2025

KAMPALA – The set of books for Literature in English have been changed starting 2020 with the incoming Senior Three learners. The new set books can be bought from any of the book stores in the country, the Ministry of Education and Sports has announced.

According to the ministry, the new set will be as follows;

SECTION A

Either

The Return of Mgofu by Francis Imbiga

or

The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare

Either

The Pearl by John Steinbeck

or

Grief Child by Lawrence Darmani

SECTION B

The Heart Soother by Sylvester Onzivua

Voice of the People by Okiya Omatatah Okoiti

Shadows of Time by Victor Byabamazima

Things fall apart by Chinua Achebe

Mema by Daniel Mengara

POETRY

Growing up with poetry by David Rubadiri

An anthology of East African poetry by A.D. Amateshe.
