KAMPALA – Police in Kampala have registered another tragic incident in which a security guard fired and killed a businesswoman in Bugolobi.
Luke Owoyesigyire, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson notes that on Friday at approximately 9 pm, Aijuka Arode employed by Security Plus Ltd had a misunderstanding with Mutesi Zainabu 48, who operated a drinks and merchandise store within Bugolobi Market building before he shoot her.
“During the unfortunate confrontation, the security guard allegedly moved a distance of about three meters and fired a single shot at the store where the victim was situated. Mutesi Zainabu was critically injured and promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite all efforts, she tragically succumbed to the injuries she sustained.”
“Upon arrival at the scene, the Police observed that the suspect had fled with his rifle,” he added in a statement.
However, Owoyesigyire said that through diligent efforts, they were able to apprehend the suspect today in the Morning.
The suspect is currently detained at Jinja road Police, he said.
